Mango Mango was born 4/4/2003 so he is just about to enter into his peak year. Currently his body weight is around 12 kg so he is also very large. Mango is an experienced male and his size, age and experience makes him a prime breeding animal. Most of the breeding success in '07 will be Mango's. As with all large males Mango is fairly calm and is rarely aggressive. He generally stands his ground on a carcass rather than giving chase or vocalising. Mango is currently housed in the main enclosure. |

Maratina Maratina was born 14/05/04 and had some breeding success at Devils@Cradle last year. Maratina mated with Mango in 2006 but did not conceive, so we have high hopes in '07 that she will successfully raise young. Maratina is starting to show the first signs of oestrus and being the oldest breeding female here, we expect her to come into oestrus first. Maratina is a confident devil and one of the animals that we handle at Devils@Cradle for the interpretative tours. Maratina is housed in
the main enclosure.

Malaga Malaga is the second largest male currently at Devils@Cradle. He was born May 2005, so he is just becoming mature. Due to his large size at a young age we expect reasonable success from Malaga in the '07 breeding season. Malaga is a very calm and confident animal and is another which we handle frequently for the interpretive tours. He is currently
housed alone to boost his condition in preparation for the forth coming
breeding season.

Myola Myola is the smallest and youngest female in the Devils@Cradle population. She was born in May 2005. She is often mistaken as a juvenile due to her smaller size. She is easy to spot as she has very little white with only the chest mark being obvious. Despite her small stature she is particularly confident and feisty. She is often very vocal when feeding as an effective bluff. Myola is the most confident and tolerant of the animals at Devils@Cradle and is regularly handled for the tours. Myola is paired with Mango for the '07 breeding season and we have high expectations that she will mate successfully and raise young this year. Myola is currently
housed in the main enclosure.

Kosti Is the smallest of the males at Devils@Cradle. He was born 26/04/2005 so he is also just maturing. Kosti is a real character and is always active. Despite his confidence and willingness to explore anything he is the least tolerant of being handled and always puts up a vocal argument. Kosti is probably the least likely to breed in '07 but will mature over the next 12 months into a very large devil and will be the force behind the '08 program. Kosti is very obvious having very large white markings and is rarely asleep in a den preferring the largest rock in the enclosure, even when its raining or snowing! He is very inquisitive and loves testing Mango's strength and experience daily relying on his quicker and lighter frame to get away. Kosti is housed
in the main devil enclosure. |

Marnoo Marnoo is only 2 years, born 26/04/2005, but is very large for her age and is often mistaken for being older than Maratina. Kosti and Marnoo are siblings but share different traits. Marnoo was very timid upon arrival at the facility and has become more and more confident over time and is now frequently handled on tours. She also has very large obvious white markings. Marnoo is also showing signs of oestrus and will be paired with both Malaga and Mango in '07. With her large size she should have ample reserve and we hope she is a successful breeder. Marnoo is also housed in the main devil enclosure. |

Barnaby and Ebony Both hand raised orphans from the state's east coast. Barnaby (Front) and Ebs (rear) are brother and sister and born in April 2006 on the East Coast of Tasmania. Being wild born they are very important additions to Devils@Cradle because of the diversity that they will bring to the Captive Breeding Program. Both are very easy to handle and Ebony is very, very vocal so you won't miss her when you visit! |

Branwell, Charlotte and Hugo All wild born and hand raised, having been born April 06. Branwell (right) and Charlotte(left) are brother and sister and were born in Nugent. Hugo (Middle) is a very large male from the Tasman Peninsula as is very easy going. Charlotte is very easily handled and Branwell is a real character and has all the others well bluffed!. Like Barnaby and Ebony they are important breeding animals due to the diversity they bring to the population. It is very exciting to have these animals at Devils@Cradle.
